The Skinny on Holly

Because sitting on my couch and wishing the pounds away didn't work

I am down another 2.8 lbs this week! Wahoo!

I wasn’t the best little WW girl this week and attribute the weight loss to the fact that I was incredibly bloated for last week’s weigh in!

That’s 13.6 lbs so far!

My goal was to lost my first 20 by my birthday which is 24 days away. A little overzealous, I know,  but I’m still shooting for it!

a veggie dish June 27, 2007

My mother always made this veggie casserole (succotash) stuff at Thanksgiving and Lois and I go through phases where we are totally addicted to it and make it all the time.

It’s an easy side dish to make on a Sunday afternoon, to reheat when you are grilling something for dinner during the week.

First, the veggies:

Can of corn

Can of French cut green beans

2-3 celery stalks, diced

1 green pepper, diced

1 medium onion, diced

Now, here is where I would usually lose the healthy aspect of it.

(I never measure it, so I’m guessing here)

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 cup mayo

Mix everything together.

Then, in the real recipe, we would then take some plain stuffing mix (those breadcrumb things) and sauté them in butter on the stovetop.

Put the mixture in a casserole dish and spread the butter soaked breadcrumbs on top.

So I am now trying the Cabot’s 50% fat-free cheese and low-fat mayo and I’m going to 86 the topping.

Not too bad, right?

I’m thinking it should be around 2-3 points per serving with the cheese and mayo and corn??

a decent day June 26, 2007

I start off every day saying I am going to have a “good day.”

This weekend, with all of our events, I think I knew I wouldn’t be “great” but I was “okay.”

Saturday night at the club, I decided to forego my usual fried calamari and fettucini. Instead, I got an appetizer that consisted of 2 oysters, 2 clams and some crab legs. Then, I had the halibut for dinner and no, it was not stuffed.

Yesterday was a “decent” day. I did, however, have 2 dinners.

Fiber One (Honey Clusters) cereal = 3

WW granola bar = 2

WW raspberry yogurt = 1

spinach salad = 5

Large iced coffee with skim and splenda = 1

WW TV dinner – Chicken Marsala = 4

Grilled zucchini and corn = 1

Stuffed sole = 7

Total: 24 points (my Target = 25)

My current goals:

A. Drink More Water

B. Activity

I know it won’t burn a lot of calories, but I’m going to hit the lake in the kayak tonight. I feel like I have a lot going on in my head right now and being down isn’t going to help me. Maybe some time on the water will help me out a little.

My newest finds

Kiashi Go Lean Crunch – Honey Almond Flax

It seems to be a lot of points (4 or 5) but it’s very yummy. It tasts like Honey Smacks. Remember those?

Oreo Thin Crisps – 100 Calorie packs

These are good. I really want to try these other 100 calorie snack packs: Lorna Doone, Planters peanut butter cookie crisps, Ritz snack mix, Cheese Nip crisps and I REALLY want to try the Nutter Butter Granola Bars.

it’s not a gain… June 22, 2007

but I only lost .2 this week.

I’ll admit that I wasn’t really good this week. I had a MILLION work parties where you can’t bring your own food and you have to be really restrained.

Plus, I feel like a bloated cow right now due to PMS and that usually adds 2-3 lbs to my weight.

The week will be a good week. This weekend, I’m going kayaking, we are getting the basement cleaned up for me to get the good treadmill in there and I am going to be an ideal Weight Watcher!

Mister Softee June 21, 2007

Filed under: temptation — holly @ 5:32 pm

The Mister Softee truck is outside the office. It’s actually strategically parked outside my office window.

I did walk out there to be social, chatted for a few minutes, saw all of the soft serve sundaes that everyone was eating, and went back to my desk, sulking that I forgot to at least bring a Hostess 100 calorie pack to work with me.

Oh well. Maybe an apple and a WW granola bar will be just what I need.

that monthly thing

Today is that day. Today is that one day of the month where I am bloated, crampy and tired and crappy and thirsting for salt, sugar, chocolate, grease and a nap.

ugh.

Tonight is another WW weigh-in. I don’t want to even go. I feel like I’ve gained 4 lbs just from being bloated.

So far this morning I have had the following:

1 small DD toasted almond coffee with skim abd splenda = 1 pt

1 bowl Fiber One Honey Clusters cereal with skin = 3 pts

1 chocolate chip peanut butter WW granola bar = 2 pts

I will attempt to restrain myself from trolling the snack machine.

ice cream June 19, 2007

Filed under: temptation — holly @ 9:14 pm

I just received an email from Human Resources.

In celebration of the first day of summer, our firm will have a Mister Softee ice cream truck come into our back parking lot for an hour of free ice cream on Thursday.

Damn them.

so mad June 18, 2007

I’m so mad at myself for being bad this weekend.

Ugh.

Not another weigh-in until Thursday of this week. I better be REALLY good until then.

one month!

Filed under: incentives to lose, progress — holly @ 1:50 pm

I can’t believe it.

I lost 2.8 lbs this week! Holy shit.

That’s 10.6 lbs in 4 weeks!

Why the hell didn’t I start this back in August 2006, or even January?!!?

As corny as they sometimes are, I do like staying for the meetings. This woman was different than the one that runs the meetings on Wednesdays. She was very interactive. One of our co-attendees met her lifetime goal and got her lifetime membership. She lost 48 lbs since August 2006.

Our leader was asking her what got her in the door of WW and what kept her going. She then asked me the same questions because I had lost my first 10.

A few things motivated me. I was 40 lbs heavier than my “fattest” and was embarassed. I wanted to start taking family photos, but I didn’t want to be in them.

I had a friend over one day and when she saw pictures of me from when Lois and I met, she blurted out “OMG – is that even you?? Look how skinny you were!!!”

That’s what got me there and keeps me going!
